It is common knowledge that Punjab Police officers committed human rights abuses in the 1980's and 1990's in Punjab India, many Sikhs fighting for their freedoms were murdered in cold blood. These Punjab Police officers who started visiting Walsall were the ones commonly accused of such abuses.
One of the most notorious officers was Izhar Alam - see former DGP Ribeiros book excerpts about the illegal activities that the Alam Sena committed against Punjabis & Sikhs in their dirty war. Alam visited the UK along with other Punjab Police officers in 2003 see these links about his visit

Harvey Rai has been the Vice Chair of Walsall Sikh Forum since it's inception. At the time of this visit from Alam & Sanjeev Gupta, Harvey Rai had organised for the Punjab Police delegation to be guests and speak at a Walsall Forum event at the Holiday Inn, Junction 10 of the M6. Local Sikhs were furious with this honoring of these officers and ensured they were cancelled from attending. On the night of the event Bhai Joga Singh Babbar & Bhai Gurdial Singh Atwal staged a protest at the car park entrance of the hotel, as they had heard that Alam & Gupta were attending the event. They were right, the Punjab Police delegation arrived at the hotel and room where the event was taking place but were quickly ushered out and their blacked out 7 seater cars were seen leaving the hotel.
Sikh Youth from across the UK attended the national police conference and protested about the visit of Punjab Police.
All of the above information is verifiable from West Midlands Police, Punjab Police, Sikh Youth activists & Panthic Jathebandiya. We need to remain vigilant of everything that goes on in our Sikh Nation.
